UX/UI · iOS App · Wake-up Missions
Five more minutes? Nope.
An alarm clock for heavy sleepers: to switch it off you solve a short mission, so by the time it's quiet, you're actually awake.

The problem
Snooze is a reflex. turns waking up into a decision.
Every alarm app shares one weak spot: the snooze button sits exactly where a half-asleep thumb lands. You hit it before your brain has a say — and the morning slips by in nine-minute pieces.
NOPE closes that gap. To switch the alarm off you finish a short mission — a sum, a QR code stuck by the coffee machine, a memory game. By the time it's solved, you're awake. I designed and built the product end to end: research, flows, the visual system, SwiftUI and the App Store story.
How it works
Set. Ring. Solve. Wake.

Set
Time, repeat days, a sound and a mission — the whole alarm fits on one calm screen and saves in seconds.
- ⏱Wheel time picker
- ↻Repeat days
- ◆24 missions to pick from
- ♪Sound & label

Ring
AlarmKit rings like the system alarm: on time, loud, right on the Lock Screen and in the Dynamic Island.
- ⏰AlarmKit system alarm
- ▣Lock Screen & Dynamic Island
- ♪Your sound, your label
- →One tap into the mission
Solve
The mission is the off switch. A system Stop without it rings again 10 seconds later — until the mission is done.
- #Rounds & difficulty per alarm
- ✓A wrong answer can be fixed
- 10sStop without mission re-rings
- !Emergency exit if a mission can't load

Wake
Every finished mission feeds a streak, a morning log and the widgets. Waking up becomes a habit you can see.
- 🔥Streak & badges
- ☀Morning weather & sleep
- ▦Widgets update instantly
- 👥Your flock sees you're up

Mission in motion
Shake it off.
One of 24 missions: shake the phone until the glass is full. The harder you shake, the faster it fills — stop, and the water simply waits. Every surge is felt as a tap of the Taptic Engine.
Good morning.
The mission library
24 ways to say Nope.
Math, memory, words, logic, reflexes and the real world. Each one is short enough for 6 a.m. and hard enough to need a working brain. Drag the rows.

Inside a mission
One shell. Many games.
Every mission shares the same frame: one clear goal, progress you can read half-asleep and a single primary action pinned above the Home indicator. Rehearsals never ring — try anything first.

Flock
Wake up together.
A group alarm for friends, teams and housemates. Join with an eight-character code, set your own alarm from the shared plan and see who's already up. It runs on iCloud — no NOPE account and no server of ours.

Widgets
Your morning, at a glance.
A live countdown to the next alarm, the streak, the flock, sleep and weather. Big numbers, rings and bars — pure black, readable from across the room.

Sleep & weather
More than an off switch.
Sleep stages from Apple Health and a morning forecast from WeatherKit turn the alarm into a small morning dashboard — a reason to open NOPE even on days it doesn't ring.

First run
Onboarding, not a form.
Eight short steps: why getting up is hard, a first alarm built one question at a time, a promise you hold to commit — and a free mission rehearsal — and only then NOPE Pro, with a week free and a reminder before billing. Trust is the first thing an alarm has to earn.

Design language
A calm system for a loud moment.
Pure black and a single lime accent keep the UI legible at 6 a.m.; a pastel colour per mission family makes 24 games recognisable at a glance. SF Pro Rounded Black carries the brand from the icon to the widgets.

App Store
Nine frames. One story.
Keyword-led headlines that Apple can read, one continuous panorama from the first frame to the last, and the mission gallery before any single mission.

Localization
Ten languages, 1,581 strings each — including the word games, rebuilt for every alphabet, and a fully localized App Store row per language.

Honest by design
Strict, never trapping.
Stop always works
System and emergency Stop stay available. Without the mission, the alarm simply rings again in 10 seconds.
Private by default
Data stays on the iPhone. Camera and microphone switch off the moment a mission ends.
No account
NOPE and Flock work without sign-up; group alarms sync through the user's own iCloud.
Safe rehearsal
Every mission can be tried first. A rehearsal never touches a real alarm.
