Figma Launches AI Suite: Generative UI & Design Systems Auto-Mapping

Figma's annual Config conference has introduced their official generative AI suite, transforming how design teams move from initial concepts to developer-ready mockup frames. Rather than starting with blank frames, designers can input natural language prompts to generate responsive, high-fidelity UI layouts, complete with buttons, forms, and typography hierarchies. The system synthesizes logical structures and content in seconds, dramatically reducing upfront wireframing time.
Native Design System Integration
The true breakthrough of this release lies in its automated token mapping engine. Instead of generating shapes with ad-hoc colors and fonts, the AI reads your organization's active design system in real-time. It automatically maps generated buttons, input fields, and grids directly to your team's predefined brand variables, spacing tokens, and component library. This ensures that any generated layout strictly adheres to existing design guidelines without manual adjustments.
Shifting the Designer's Role
This integration shifts the primary workflow of modern digital product designers. Designers are moving from manual pixel-pushing and redrawing components to system-level auditing and layout curating. The AI handles the repetitive task of layout generation, allowing designers to dedicate more time to complex user journeys, information architecture, and micro-interactions.
Figma's AI Suite is currently in open beta for all enterprise teams. Figma plans to release advanced custom model training features later this year, letting companies fine-tune the generative models on their specific visual guidelines and code bases.
