Hash Chat — project overview

Overview

Slack-style communication enhanced with a social feed and a crypto layer. I designed the end-to-end desktop and mobile experience, unifying chats, channels, Top posts, wallet, and P2P transfers into one clean, dark-themed UI.

Goals

Deliver a fast, familiar chat experience across desktop and mobile, integrating wallet and P2P transfers without breaking the conversation flow.

Ship a time‑boxed MVP from scratch, covering the core flows—messages, channels, social feed, and wallet send/request/confirm—with production‑ready UI.

Establish a lean component library that covers only missing and high‑leverage patterns to accelerate delivery and ensure visual and behavioral consistency, rather than building a full‑scale design system.

Align design decisions to business outcomes by reducing time‑to‑first transfer and increasing wallet activation while upholding accessibility and a robust dark theme.

Desktop‑first delivery with mobile parity for key wallet and P2P actions.

Money Meets Chat (Desktop)

Talk, send, post — all in one screen, no detours or dead ends

One tap from message to Pay/Request; receipt lands back in the thread

Curated Top Posts keep the room alive while the chat flows

Draft once, share anywhere: compose on the right, drop into chat or feed

Feels fast and familiar, but quietly reduces time to first transfer

Channel + Wallet Sidecar (Desktop)

Follow the channel while the wallet stays docked on the right

One‑tap Pay/Request from composer; balance, QR, and tokens are always visible

Rank and progress ring gamify activation; “Renew now” card prompts subscription

Token list with fiat equivalents enables quick switching and confidence

Outcome: chat focus intact, faster send/request, higher wallet engagement

Channels Hub (Desktop)

Channel‑first layout: feeds and servers on the left, thread in focus center

Quick subscribe/manage lists with section dividers and add‑channel FAB

Inline subscription card in chat (10 USDC/month) with “Renew now” CTA

Right rail hidden; “Top posts” tab appears as a grabber for later

Outcome: stay in channel, act on subs without leaving the conversation

Conversation + Wallet Dock (Desktop)

Chat stays center; wallet is pinned right with Request/Send always reachable

QR in‑thread for quick scan payments; composer offers one‑tap Pay

Token/NFT tabs and balances visible to reduce uncertainty before actions

Left rail groups feeds, utilities, servers; unread pills drive navigation

Outcome: payments happen mid‑chat, with full balance context and fewer hops

Mobile Core Flow

Chat: fast replies with inline actions; clean canvas keeps focus on the thread.

Feed: rich cards with Follow/Like/Comment; one bottom nav builds muscle memory.

Wallet: profile and rank nudges activation with a clear Deposit prompt.

Balance: Request/Send always visible; QR toggle enables instant scan-to-pay.

Result: from message to transfer in one flow—no context switching.
